bathroom mirrors, school pictures, two way filmed windows
hate how they all scream out insecurities, “mistakes” and “flaws”
they screamed so loud right in my eyes that I went colourblind
all I saw was black and white
the beauty or the beast
and I thought the beast was me

your words shone through my eyes
like a ray of moonlight at night
and I saw colours so bright in me I couldn’t find before
the blood red passion, the blue I swam through
green like the trees after a storm
I was colourblind but now I can see
all the shades of colours in me

I used to hide in closets in the basement of my house
the fear they’ll only see a monster kept me from going out
the closet so dark, I yearned for the light
and I saw you walking by
from the crack between the door and the wall
I heard your voice of pride

your words shone through my eyes
like a ray of moonlight at night
and I saw colours so bright in me I couldn’t find before
the blood red passion, the blue I swam through
green like the trees after a storm
I was colourblind but now I can see
every shade of rainbow in me

I was colourblind but now I can see
all the shades of colours in me
